The rain tree

A tropical tree with one trunk and a dome-shaped crown up to 30 m across

It works like a tensile roof. One support holds up a wide cover, and people gather in the shade underneath. That’s why we chose it for membraneum

Frei Otto said, “My architecture is the architecture of survival.” We like the tree for the same reason. It shelters people with very little material

Everywhere, and hard to find

Fabric roofs and facades are on playgrounds, terraces, and buildings you pass every day. What it takes to build one is scattered across company websites, catalogs, PDFs, and people's heads

  • Every piece in a different place: One project can mean checking the architect's portfolio, the fabricator's project page, and the membrane maker's datasheet. They rarely link to each other
  • Every request starts over: Companies keep their records, but nobody outside can see them. So each new request runs the same loop again: explain, suggest, iterate, offer

What the gateway connects

Industry data is scattered across dozens of websites. We collect it, check it, and connect it, so you get a clear path to what you came for

  • Sources: Projects, Images, Materials, Products, Suppliers, Fabricators, Architects, Developers, Software, Knowledge
  • What you get: Learn from past projects, Let AI help you along, Explore and act, Growth from demand data

Registry

Built projects, products, materials, and the companies behind them, in one place and linked to their sources. Atlas and Scout answer from it, and soon your own AI assistant will too

  • Companies: Who designs, makes, and installs membrane structures
  • Projects: Built membrane structures and the teams behind them
  • Products: Membrane systems with technical details and source links
  • Materials: Fabrics and films used in membrane structures
  • Jobs: Open roles at membrane companies
  • Images: Photos of tensile and fabric structures
  • Resources: Technical guides and research papers

Atlas

Ask about a project, material, or supplier. Atlas explains the options and shows the sources it used

  • Step 1: Ask in your own words
  • Step 2: Open the sources
  • Step 3: Compare before you decide

Scout

Describe what you want to build. Scout helps you compare options and write a brief you can send to suppliers

  • Step 1: Start with a rough idea
  • Step 2: Answer questions about size and use
  • Step 3: Leave with a brief you can send

One gateway. Four audiences

Some visitors are just curious. Some are planning a project, some sell to people who are, and some are AI tools researching for someone else. They all get the same records, with sources they can check

  • Anyone curious: Browse built projects and ask questions in plain words. You don't need to know the technical terms
  • Professionals: Search by shape, span, or material. Compare built examples and follow the sources behind each answer
  • Business: Link your company profile to your products and built work, so people researching membrane systems can find you
  • AI and search tools: We plan to open our records to search engines and AI assistants, with their source links

Business

Make your work work for you

Put your products, built projects, and technical documents on one company page. When someone plans that kind of project, they can find you through search or an AI assistant

  • Show your projects and products on one page
  • See how people find you in search and AI
  • Choose what your page shows
  • Follow every request from first contact to reply

membraneum for business

A lighter way forward

I've worked with tensile structures since I was fifteen, and I still love them (at least I hope so). They're everywhere, yet the companies behind them are hard to find unless you already know where to look

So we're building membraneum. Describe what you need and let membraneum sort it out for you. It brings back built examples, specifications, and the companies that made them

membraneum is still in development. Join the waitlist and tell me what you're working on. I'd especially like to hear which questions you're tired of answering, and which answers you still can't find. We also welcome associations, industry groups, and professional communities to join us along the way and find ways to work together
